I love the Zune. This one with the huge hard drive is fabulous. This one is the third I've bought since getting my own. Now I have given 2 as gifts with all my music (60 gigs) loaded onto them and both of my music nut friends couldn't be happier. Just like me. Only con is that the FM radio reception isn't really great and I use radio a lot. But all in all the Zune 120 gig is AWESOME. Way better than IPOD and better graphics and user interface.

My first Zune was bought in October 2008. I listen to the Zune while doing outside chores, on average about 9 hours a day 5 -6 days a week; the Zune is updated and left on charge a few hours nightly. (Note when the battery indicator says below 25% that means it could die any minute. I do not know if they fixed this.)

July 2008 I had to send it in for a battery replacement at no cost. Thanks to the 1 year warranty. August 2009 the refurbished Zune arrived and to my recollection the service rep said the warranty would be extended 1 year, so to August 2010. 01 March 2010 the hard drive goes out on the Zune and I am being told that my warranty expires 90 days after my old warranty would have expired so Dec 2009.

Customer support said they would check the recordings to see if I am correct that the service agent said that it would be a 1 year warranty after it was sent or my old brain is fried like the Zune's hard drive. This will take 3-5 business days.

I bought my wife a Zune May 2009 and as of yet she has had no problems, but she does not listen to hers as much.

Highly recommend extending your warranty.

I have been on the marketplace for a new player for a while, and had settled on the zune after buying - and returning - an ipod. With the ipod, I couldn't stand how it made you do everything through itunes, and you had so little leeway for making changes, sync options, etc. I was on the phone with the tech support people asking them if I could do what I wanted (keep podcast episodes on my ipod but not on my hard drive so it didn't take up space on my work computer) and they said "no" and didn't charge me for the call.

So now I get the zune, and I'm all happy, until I realize I'm in the same dilemma, AND I hate the zune software, which is clunky, and basically unusable on xp until you get the updated version. There are apparently hacks letting you use it as a hard drive, but it involves working around in registries, and that scares me, so I grin and bear it. The one thing I will say, though, is that it does give you far more options of where to save things like podcasts (external hard drives, for example) and where to get your music from, than the ipod did, so it has that going for it.

I'll keep it because I like the red color, and the look of it more than the ipod classic. Plus the ipod classic doesn't have wifi yet (at least the one I got didn't) and this does. And I like the big screen.

Also, I have rhapsody and an emusic subscription, so the zune pass doesn't do much for me.

So I'm kind of a pseudo-fan for now...

I bought the 30 GB Zune for a long trip out of the country as an alternative to the uber expensive Ipod with the same capacity. Previously owned an Ipod mini, liked it for the easy access to music but there were certain features (like not being able to shuffle on a playlist) that I didn't care for. Wanted something with a video capability but found that Ipod prices to be too high. In comparasion, the Zune was well priced and just as good. I loved it... and my mother (who is not technology savy) loved it so much that she basically stole it from me. That's when I went out got the 120 GB. It's even better now. The case is beautiful and slick though I do suggest that you get something to protect it if you are rough on your stuff like I am. The "wheel" is touch sensitive now so you can scroll faster. The wireless feature is great when I don't have a cable around and want to sync something at my parent's house. And having a FM turner is a bonus when you're at the gym and something on the overhead TV you want to tune into. (Which I didn't get with the old Ipod mini... though it is pretty old so I don't know if the new stuff has a tuner or not.) I don't mind the smudging on the screen, just wipe it with a piece of cotton or put a protective sheet on it. Except for the cases, all the accessories are are the same for all the Zunes which meakes me extremely happy. Having the huge capacity means I can put even more videos on it now though it eats the battery life faster; but I don't think 3+ hours is all that unreasonable. I've had the Zune for months now and would definitely recommend it to others. In fact, I think I'll upgrade my mother's for her. :)

I just upgraded from iAudio. I loved my iAudio but i love this Zune even more. I think its the best hard drive mp3 player out there. I love to discover new music so channels, radio and zune pass work great for me. I love the zune pad. I get the best of both worlds. Scroll and click combination is so nice. Much better than the ipod wheel or iAudio joy stick.
Only thing worried me before i bought the device was PC software it comes with. I heard lot of complains about. I really don't know what people complain about. its on the little slow side to open up first, about 15-20 seconds. but then everything else is fast. Setup was very easy. Just simple clicks and naming your device. Even setting up wireless sync was a breeze.
I wish it had a mic. other than that i love it.
